The Ciaz is Maruti Suzuki’s take on the important mid-size sedan segment. With it’s low slung profile and sleek design language, the Ciaz has a well crafted body shell. The design cues work towards giving the car a big car appeal rather than a sporty design language, something that is in sync with the Ciaz’s nature.
At the front, the Ciaz has a bold four slat chrome front grille, mildly swept back headlamps and a well profiled front bumper with a black centre section. The side profile profile of the car clearly accentuates the large cabin of the car and rightfully so, as the Ciaz offers a great deal of cabin space for it’s occupants. There is a prominent belt line running along the side profile of the car on what is otherwise a very plain surface, in sync with the car’s design language. Around the back, the Ciaz has an arc shaped boot lid. There are angular dual unit taillamps. The license plat holder has a deep recess in the centre of the boot lid over lined by a strip of chrome. The rear bumper is a large unit with black plastic section on either side, housing reflectors.
Inside, the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz has dual tone interiors that have a clear and uncluttered layout. The top section is finished in dark plastics while the lower part of the cabin and the seats are beige in colour. The instrument binnacle in typical Maruti Suzuki style has large and easy to read dials. The steering wheel is wrapped in leather and has audio controls. The centre console is all new for Maruti with a large touch screen for the voice activated stereo, the controls for the climate control system are located below. The Ciaz comes with a host of features such as rear view camera, rear ac vents, keyless start/stop, projector head lamps, rear sun blind, illuminated foot wells with adjustable lighting, leather upholstery, airbags, anti-lock brakes and electronic brake force distribution.
Engine options for the Ciaz include a 1.4 litre petrol engine and a 1.3 litre diesel engine paired to a mild-electric setup. The 1.4-litre petrol motor is paired-with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic transmission, the 1.3-litre diesel motor meanwhile is available only with the 5-speed manual transmission. The 1.4-litre petrol MT variants ave an ARAI-certified mileage of 20.73 km/l, while the AT variants return 19.12 km/l. The Ciaz SHVS diesel mild-hybrid is now the most efficient diesel-fueled car in the country, with an ARAI-certified efficiency of 28.09 km/l
