Maruti might introduce Swift Facelift at 2014 Indian Auto Expo

As the 2014 Auto Expo is approaching, rumors have started floating again regarding the facelift versions of country's leading auto-maker, Maruti Suzuki's best selling hatchback Swift and Sedan Swift Dzire. The possibilites of bringing facelifts to these vehicles has also increased when the company launched a minor facelift of Swift in the International Markets like Japan and Europe in July this year.

As we told earlier that Maruti has chalked out its plans and it would be launching a compact SUV bulit on XA-Alpha concept which is codenamed YBA. Hence, speculations are rife that Maruti may showcase these updated vehicle along with the compact SUV at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. It is expected that the exteriors of updated Swift would be tweaked a bit like the addition of LED daytime running lights is a prominent one to mention. The top end variants in both fuel trims might recieve more exquisite features like the cruise control, keyless entry with Engine Start/Stop Button, steering wheel with leather strapping, a dual tone dashboard etc. It is also being informed that fornt grille might also go under hammer and we could see a all new revised grille along with optional 16' alloy wheels.

Maruti to launch Innova-sized MPV in 2016-17, codenamed RX

With the increase in demand for Utility vehicles, Maruti Suzuki India is also planning to introduce a new multi-utility vehicle in the market. The new model will directly compete against Toyota Innova, which has been the country's top selling model. The company plans to launch the MPV in 2016-17.

According to Livemint, the new MPV will be larger the the Ertiga. Maruti's Ertiga has been doing good business in India, but it cannot compete well against Innova which comes equipped with loads of space and power. The country's largest carmaker felt a need of a larger MUV to compete well in the higher segment, where Innova rules the market since it was introduced in 2005.

Codenamed RX, the new MPV is said to be an 8-seater, and will be powered by diesel engine larger than the 1.2-litre DDiS unit which does duty in the Ertiga MPV. It seems like Maruti sanctioned the development of the RX MPV in January 2013. The company wanted to keep this development secret, however Mint managed to get a note informing about the appointment of a chief engineer for their MPV project. Few of the Maruti's component suppliers have also confirmed the development of the RX.

Maruti may launch Swift and Dzire facelift in early 2014

Maruti Suzuki may launch the facelifted versions of the Swift hatchback and Dzire compact sedan in the first quarter of 2014. These new variants are likely to be showcased at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo.

Maruti Suzuki launched the Swift in 2005 and ever since the car has been a runaway success. In late 2011 the all-new Swift was launched which took the game even further. The Japanese carmaker has never rushed in to give their products a facelift, but stiff competition has ensured that no car company can rest on their laurels.

The Swift leads the Premium hatchback or B+ segment and the Swift Dzire also leads the compact sedan segment. The Swift and the Dzire will get updated  and seems like Maruti will showcase the facelifted versions at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo, if rumours are to be believed the facelifted versions are expected to hit the showrooms by first quarter next year.

As per a report by Cartoq, the maximum changes would be exclusive only to the top-end variants aka ZXI and ZDI. The Swift family also get cruise control, all-new 16 inch alloys, revised bumpers and grille, leather wrapped steering wheel, keyless entry and a button start ignition to finish the premium feel.  While all these additions to the feature list also warrant a price, we can expect a price hike in the range of Rs 50,000-60,000.

Customer satisfaction with new vehicle design and performance increases for a sixth consecutive year

Customer satisfaction with new vehicle design and performance in India has increased for a sixth consecutive year, according to the J.D. Power Asia Pacific 2013 India Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study.

Now in its 15th year, the study examines how a new vehicle is to own and drive, based on owner evaluations during the first two to six months of ownership. The study measures satisfaction across many performance categories: exteriors; interiors; storage and space; audio/ entertainment/ navigation; seats; heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC); driving dynamics; engine/ transmission; visibility and driving safety; and fuel economy. Overall APEAL performance is reported as an index score based on a 1,000-point scale, with a higher score indicating higher satisfaction.

The 2013 India APEAL Study is based on responses from 9,069 owners who purchased a new vehicle between November 2012 and July 2013. The study was fielded between May and September 2013 in 25 cities across India.

The overall APEAL score averages 845 in 2013, which is a nine-point increase from 2012. The industry improves across all 10 categories, with the largest improvement posted in the audio/ entertainment/ navigation category, due to a higher percentage of vehicles being delivered with factory- or dealer-installed features such as USB connectivity for iPod/MP3 players, hands-free communication and steering wheel-mounted audio controls

Maruti - CNG versions of all brands by 2016

The latest buzz is that Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the subsidiary of Japanese car manufacturer Suzuki Motor Corp is bringing out the CNG version of all its brands that are available in the market. Right now, the firm has CNG vehicles only around 2.3 percent of its existing fleet of cars. All these while, the company was in a sort of procrastination whether to bring CNG version for a variety of reasons including lack of infrastructure, low supply and the upward tick of the prices of CNG compatible vehicles. But, many state governments are laying more emphasis on alternative fuel, the company is planning to cash in on the market trend and be the leading player in that segment as well. Currently, Maruti has launched a number of CNG vehicles such as Maruti Suzuki Alto, Maruti Suzuk Wagon R, Maruti Suzuk Eeco, Maruti Suzuki Estilo and Maruti Suzuki SX4.
